SOPRAELEVATE Sportscapes reviewed / LE MANS, CIRCUIT AUTOMOBILE |

5 km S Le Mans, 210 km SW Paris, lap length : 13.605 km. In 1923, the first “24 hours of Le Mans” were driven on a 17 kilometre road circuit. Starting in 1932, the race was run on a somewhat shorter stretch, which has only been changed slightly since then. The list of winners of this long-distance classic includes almost all the names of famous racing drivers and sports car makers, such as Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes and Audi. The Le Mans course lies for the most part on public roads. Only the central part with the grandstands, boxes and the Bugatti Circuit is reserved for motor sports events. The whole tattered, legendary automobile landscape should be shown as a representative unity through an artistic concept. |
