SOPRAELEVATE Sportscapes reviewed / LE MANS, JARDIN DE PROMETHEE
a) The racecourse itself is interpreted as a garden of fire. Its elements – the asphalt of the surface, the steel of the guardrails, the stacks of tires as crash barriers – have all come through fire. The tamed power of fire drives the racing cars for 24 hours along their course. We have a concept for an electronically powered automobile that completes only a single round in 24 hours. The driver (visitor) experiences the endurance of slowness. This way, the legendary course and the landscape of the Sarthe look like an artistic garden panorama. At certain points along the circuit the story of Prometheus and the conquest of fire would be shown in sequences via video. b) The space inside the circuit will become a “picturesque garden.”
